ok so here I am in Nashville at the home of Joe Pisapia and Jennie Switzer. Joe and I wrote “Summer on My Mind” for my cd Dominoes and Joe and Jennie have graciously opened there home to me for my visit here. Jennie is currently making an experimental broccoli casserole for dinner as I write this while Joe is busy making the next Guster record up in NY. After an uber-stressful and brief trip back to LA from London I headed here and I’m happy to say things are starting to mellow. Great writing sessions and lots of local laid backness is seeping into my frayed edges and softening the curve of my spine. yes, I like it here alright and plan to spend more time in the future. The plane ride felt like a reunion of sorts… I ran into people from widely disparate yet related parts of my LA musical world. I feel like LA is a town of multiple orbits. A friend once compared it to the web itself and I think that’s an apt discription. whereas Nashville is a distilled community. when I get here I start believing all my thoughts are lyrics and all my actions are song worthy. Good. It’s good.

As you may or may not know my Bossa Nova cd has begun it’s glorious journey to people’s ears in a rather slow fashion but at last, a crack in the music biz code. On Monday October 20, Dominoes will have it’s digital debut as a featured record in the Bowers and Wilkins Music Club series. This honor was bestowed by none other than Peter Gabriel and Real World Records in partnership with the high end speaker system company. Check out the fab interviews Ethan and I did about the record and get your free lossless sound downloads. Apparently lossless is the new founded, super duper high quality sound. Julianna has completed her Bossa Nova inspired CD “Dominoes” with Ethan Johns producing. Stay tuned for information on it’s release. A track from Dominoes has been placed in the Charlize Theron film “The Burning Plain” due out in 09. Julianna performed the new material solo acoustic for CBS Studios’ on July 4th in their VIP room.
Julianna contributed the song “Such A Night” chosen as KCRW’s pick of the day, to Robin Danar’s Altered States CD.

Just got “Dominos” via the B&W Music Club and wanted to say congrats on a great album. You’ve managed to blend the very best of Joabim with a late-night blues tradition to create something very special. Outstanding all the way through — thanks!

Hi there, Long time pretty girl. Small world, six degrees-maybe only three, all that, but your name came up this week and I watched Open Range again last night and a strangely familiar and beautiful voice in the credits caught my ear.
